Removing the message posted page

I know some sites don't show you the page that your message has been posted, rather you are just sent back to the topic. How would people feel about this being done here? It would remove another click. We could also put in the preview feature, though they may not happen at the same time. The side effect could be the elimination of duplicate posts, though I'm not sure on that yet. Thoughts?

I don't see a big need for a preview feature as long as you are willing to just proofread your post before posting. People with bad spelling and careless typing are not going to post messages that make any more sense with or without this feature. And the extra click doesn't bother me, but if eliminating that page will help prevent people from posting twice, then I guess I see the value of doing this.

yes, taking this page away would I think prevent some double posts. I think they mostly happen when people forget they just posted and then send a qn from that page, so if we could eliminate that, it would be cool.

Yeah. I would like this idea, especially if it would help illiminate multiple posts. *smiles* A tiny bit off topic but I like the way the log-in thing is set up now. It's to the point in only showing the news and if not, it takes us directly to the main page which is where we'd be going anyway first and shows about our extra points for the day on there. That's cool. *smile*

I like it.

Excelent idea J. Especially if it will get rid of the double posts.

yes, I've seen that on all other boards; good idea! :)

Sounds like pretty good idea.

It is also a good idea because of the fact that, if you send a quick note from the "Message posted" page, even if it doesn't create a duplicate post, it still effectively takes you off of the boards. you then have to cycle all the way back round to the boards via the home page again which is a little trying. I'm definitely in favour of having this page removed.

i agree with everyone

make it seem like a real forum

i agree, lets have that page taken down. as a braillenote user, it takes a very long time to go through all those pages just to get back to the boards.

I agree with what Buckeye Cat said. I don't really see the point in having a preview feature, when it's simple enough to just proofread what you have written before you post your message. As far as getting rid of the other page, I agree on that. If it helps to lower the chances of multiple posts, then go for it!

Post 13 by Harp (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Thursday, 04-May-2006 15:55:02

I think perhaps the point of having a preview option has slightly been lost here. Yes of course it could be used to check everything that you have written before posting, though I'd agree with the sentiments of others here already, that checking can just as easily be done while writing the actual post itself. However where a preview option would come into it's own would be for those users, like myself, who use HTML code, such as line or paragraph breaks in their posts to make the messages easier to read. The preview button would show you exactly how the message will finally be displayed and not what would be currently written in the edit field.

So while I must admit that it probably wouldn't be a feature I'd use a great deal, I certainly can see a purpose for it.

I think also the same could happen after we review an audio profile. instead of the page saying review added it could go back to the audio profile.
